Frequently asked questions

Does Rookion read handwriting?
Yes, reading is meant for handwritten scoresheets. The cleaner the sheet and the better the photo, the less you have to correct. What Rookion cannot read with confidence is marked, and you check it on the board; nothing is guessed silently.
What happens to the photo?
The photo is used only to recognise the moves and is not stored; only the game you confirm after checking is saved. The app removes image metadata such as the location before uploading. Details in the privacy policy.
What if part of the sheet is illegible?
Rookion tells you from which move the sheet was no longer readable. You add the missing moves or keep the partial game up to that point.
Do I need an account?
Yes, the photo import belongs to the account because the game goes into your collection. The account is free and includes one taster every 30 days.
Which sheets work?
Common tournament and club sheets with move numbers and two columns for White and Black, in short algebraic notation. Photograph the whole sheet from above; one photo up to 8 MB as JPG or PNG.
